Origami House

The Origami Kitchen is an architectural collision of restraint and exuberance. A folded language of white walls, ceiling, and solid surface emerges from the normal geometry of the house to create an indoor planter, banquette seating, massive kitchen island, and custom triangular skylight before it crashes into an intricately milled and highly detailed wall of modern cabinetry. The design was driven by the clients’ embrace of Rem’s mantra “More is More” tempered by their requirement for a kitchen that would function as well as it looks.
